Family Medicine Residency Program Faculty Physician
The University of Arkansas for Medical Sciences (UAMS), a nationally recognized leader in healthcare and academic medicine, is seeking a dynamic, Board Certified Family Physician for a full time faculty position in the UAMS South Family Medicine Residency Program in Magnolia, Arkansas. Responsibilities include teaching residents/medical students in a tertiary hospital setting, direct patient care, Patient Centered Family Medicine Clinic and assisting with curriculum development.  UAMS South operates the UAMS Family Medical Center, a full service outpatient facility on the Magnolia, Arkansas Campus of UAMS.  The applicant must be board certified in Family Medicine.  Applicants with a Family Medicine Obstetrics interest are also encouraged to apply.   
 
The UAMS South Family Medicine Residency Program, a division of UAMS Regional Programs, is one of seven sister UAMS Family Medicine Residency Programs located throughout the state and operating under the Regional Programs Division of the University of Arkansas for Medical Sciences, located in Little Rock, Arkansas.  UAMS South has the broad support of both hospital-based and community-based physicians in South Arkansas and the main campus in Little Rock.  UAMS South’s sponsoring institution, Magnolia Regional Medical Center, is a non-profit, city owned, Acute Care Hospital. The hospital has been in continuous operation since 1939 and is licensed to operate 49 beds. In February 2010, a new facility opened replacing the original 1939 building and additions. The hospital continues to serve a diverse population in Columbia County and a large part of Southwest Arkansas including neonatal, pediatric, obstetric, adult, and geriatric patients.
 
Since the City’s incorporation in 1855, Magnolia, Arkansas has been the home to many amenities that contribute to the high quality of life residents enjoy. Nestled among tall pine trees in the south central area of Arkansas, the City of Magnolia is the county seat of Columbia County.  The Magnolia region offers significant transportation infrastructure advantages for both residents and businesses. Due to the ease of travel, surrounding residents have easy access to the area’s amenities, including the arts, sporting events, entertainment, dining, and shopping along with numerous other medical and healthcare facilities. The children of the Magnolia region are assured a quality education. Located in the outstanding Magnolia Public School District, Magnolia is home to several exemplary Elementary, Primary and High Schools. Quality private schools are also located in Magnolia. 
 
An abundance of recreational activities is available in the area including boating, fishing, hunting, golfing, tennis and other outdoor activities.  Magnolia is also home to Southern Arkansas University founded in 1909 the Branch Normal College, with a current enrollment of 4,500.  Southern Arkansas University offers 70 different undergraduate options, including pre-professional tracks, and 2+2 degree completion programs in four different academic colleges.
 
Skills
  • Must have successfully graduated from an ACGME or OGME accredited Family Medicine Residency Program
  • Must be Board Certified in Family Medicine by the ABFM
  • Must have or be able to obtain an Arkansas medical license
  • Must be able to obtain a DEA license
