1st Choice Healthcare has an opening for a board certified/board eligible Family Medicine or Internal Medicine physician at our Pocahontas location. This is a clinic-only position.  1st Choice Healthcare is a Federally Qualified Health Center (FQHC) with six clinic locations in Corning, Pocahontas, Walnut Ridge, Ash Flat and Paragould and Salem, Arkansas. 

Physicians within our organization are responsible for seeing patients 36 hours a week and for completing 4 hours of administrative time a week. The administrative hours can be completed from home. Clinic schedules can be arranged into 4 nine-hour days to create a four day work week or as 4.5 eight-hour days.  Physicians within our organization typically see 18-24 patients a day.  Call for our physicians is every 12th week. During business hours, the on-call physician addresses refill requests, critical labs, urgent phone calls, etc. for the other providers who may be out of the office. When the office is closed, the APRN's take 1st call and the physician moves to back-up only, telephone only call. Our Pocahontas clinic is open on Saturday from 9 a.m. until 4 p.m. and is staffed with either one physician or one APRN. Saturday clinics are optional for physicians. Physicians who want to work Saturday clinics are paid an additional $100 per hour for Saturday work. 

Our organization offers physicians 44 days of paid time off a year—15 vacation days, 12 holidays, 5 CME days, and 12 sick days. After 5 years of employment, physicians get an extra day of vacation for every year worked here, up to a total of 20 vacation days. Additionally, the organization provides $3000 a year for CME. The organization contributes 4% a year to retirement. 1st Choice pays for the provider’s health, dental, and life insurance. 

As a Community Health Center, 1st Choice is covered by federal TORT laws that grant immunity to providers from medical malpractice lawsuits. Additionally, the clinic provides a private malpractice "wrap-around" policy. 

1st Choice participates with the National Health Service Corp to provide loan repayment for medical professionals who practice in our clinics. Generally, physicians can receive $50,000 tax free for their first two year commitment and additional funds for every year they recommit to working in the organization.
